Police searching for suspect who stole car with baby inside

TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — LaGrange police say a woman’s car was stolen from just outside her home -- with her 1-year-old daughter still inside.

Police said the incident happened Sunday around 11 a.m. ShaCarra Johnson had just parked outside of her home on Juniper Street. Johnson said she walked onto the porch and turned her back on the car for just a moment. When she looked back, she watched her own car speeding away.

Police swarmed the area to look for the car. A half hour later, someone called 911 and said they found an abandoned car with a child inside parked behind a home on Boulevard Street. Officers responded and found the baby safe. She was returned to her mother unharmed.
