Police release new video in Macy's thefts

ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News has obtained new video of two men who police believe stole a half a million dollars' worth of watches from Macy's at Lenox Square.

Early this month, Channel 2 Action News first showed you video of two men hiding in a storage room inside the Macy's at Lenox Square.

One man even looked into the camera before police say the two men used a rubber mallet to break every watch case and steal $500,000 worth of watches.

But that rubber mallet was left behind and now could play a huge role in this case.

Police used a bar code on the wooden handle to track down video of the two men buying the tools from a store.

"You can see the items the men buy, a rubber mallet black bag and screwdrivers we believed were used in the incident," Lt. Rod Woody with the Atlanta Police Department told Channel 2's Ryan Young.

Later, the two walk out and get into a white car. All this information was tracked thanks to a bar code.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
