• Police officer hurt in DeKalb crash


    DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A DeKalb County police officer suffered minor injuries in a wreck Tuesday afternoon in Lithonia.

    The wreck happened around 5:45 p.m. near Panola Road at Benton Drive.

    The officer was responding to a call when a car pulled out from a side street. The officer swerved, trying to avoid the car, but lost control and hit a tree.

    Panola Road at Benton Drive was shut down as police investigated at the scene.

    The officer was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. He's expected to be OK.
