• Police: Mom high on heroin crashes minivan with kids in backseat

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - Roswell police have arrested a mother after they say she crashed her minivan with her kids in the backseat while high on heroin.

A witness said he spotted Erica Mondor, 26, driving about 5 mph down Business Holcomb Bridge Road last Tuesday just before she crashed into a guardrail.

“I saw it in the turn lane, just sitting there, and a few cars honking at it and flashing their lights at it,” said Michael Hampl.

He said he wondered why it was driving so slowly.

“On my way back out, I saw it crashed on the side of the street,” said Hampl.

Roswell police said an officer spotted the same.

The officer got out to approach the car and noticed the driver and passenger were unconscious. He had to break the window to give them treatment.

Lisa Holland said the officer found Mondor’s two young children strapped in their car seats, with freshly used needles and heroin in the van.

“The driver and passenger did admit to purchasing heroin and shooting up the heroin with the kids in the car,” said Lisa Holland with the Roswell Police Department.

Hampl said he feels sorry for the family.

“I just feel awful for those kids and that family,” said Hampl.

Police said the kids weren’t hurt, and went home with a grandmother.

Mondor is in the Fulton County Jail facing numerous charges, including child endangerment and DUI.
