Police: Missing girl reunited with mother after wandering off

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Every available DeKalb County police officer helped in the search for a missing 5-year-old girl Tuesday morning.

Officers said they arrived to the sounds of a mother screaming at the Marquis Point apartments in Stone Mountain just after 4 a.m.

A neighbor told Channel 2's Sophia Choi the girl unlocked a child lock on the front door of her apartment.

All available officers were called in to assist with the search.

"Almost every officer here has got a family and just if it was there child they would want everyone to assist as much as they possibly could," James Berg of the DeKalb Police Department said.

Someone found the girl and took her to the DeKalb County Jail. Two officers then reunited the girl with her mother just before 6 a.m.
