Police: Man killed after argument in downtown Atlanta

ATLANTA — One person is dead after gunfire erupted blocks away from Atlanta Police Department headquarters.
 
Police say the incident began with an argument, which someone decided to settle with a gun.
 
Late Monday night, officers responded to a shooting on Broad Street in downtown Atlanta. Police found a man around the corner on Trinity Street dead near the entrance of the Garnett MARTA station.
 
Investigators said the man was shot at least once in the chest. His sister arrived at the scene early Tuesday morning and identified the victim as 18-year-old Montavis Washington.
 
Witnesses told police the man was in an altercation with another person on Broad Street when he was shot, and he collapsed around the corner.
 
Officers brought in K-9 units to search for evidence and interviewed several witnesses.
 
Police have no description of a suspect.
