• Police: Man fired shots in home with 4 kids


    LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - After a seven-hour standoff, police said a gunman was not inside the home SWAT had surrounded in Lawrenceville overnight.

    Police said the man was with a family, including at least four children, at a home near Castle Drive when an altercation broke out in the house and he started shooting late Thursday night.

    The family ran out of the home and was not injured.

    When officers arrived, they said the man refused to surrender. Police said based on the man’s criminal record, they decided to call in the SWAT team.

    A few neighbors were evacuated for safety reasons.

    When police entered the home before 5 a.m., the man was not inside.
