Police investigating possible attempted child abduction in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating an attempted child abduction in DeKalb County.

A 12-year-old boy says a man got out of a car along Latchwood Drive in Lithonia as he walked to his bus stop Thursday morning.

He said he ran away and got on the bus.

He reported the incident when he got to school.

Police say this investigation is in the early stages, but they want to warn parents to keep a close eye on their kids.

The man is described as white, in his 20s to 30s, wearing all black and with a dark blonde beard, a possible low haircut and a rose tattoo on one of his hands.

Anyone with information about someone matching that description is urged to dial 911 or the DeKalb County Police Department at 770-724-7850, or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.

The boy’s mother said her son used a move he learned in football to get away from the man.

“You touched the wrong kid,” mother Nikisha Jones-Pate said.

She said her son did not go to school the following day because he was so traumatized by what happened.

“I am a mother bear. I am vicious about my kids,” she said.
