Couple fatally stabbed in Gwinnett home

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a married couple as a double homicide.

The deaths happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday on Worrall Hill Way off Ga. 120 and east of Duluth, Gwinnett police said.

The victims, Sun Hee Choi, 59, and Young Chan Choi, 63, were the owners of Best Supply, a restaurant supply business in Norcross, police said.

With the help of a translator, Channel 2's Kerry Kavanaugh spoke with the couple's friend and business associate of 20 years.

"(People) are very shocked. Everybody's sad, so they don't know what to do," said Shin Kang.

Kang said the Chois' successful business serviced about a thousand restaurants in Georgia.

"They (didn't) harm other people. They're just very generous. Just (overall) good citizens," Kang said.

Police said witnesses reported seeing one or possibly two men visit the Choi's home Saturday night.

"Witnesses reported that they were allowed inside and there did not seem to be any kind of scuffle at the door," said Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Jake Smith.

Witnesses also said one of the men was carrying a box of apples, a customary Korean gesture for invited guests.

Police said neighbors heard screams from the home shortly after the people visited the home and called 911. Police found the couple inside the home when they arrived but the visitors were gone.

Police do not know why the victims were targeted and they do not have any suspects in custody.

Meanwhile, neighbors said they are constantly watching over their shoulders. Police urge residents to be vigilant until an arrest is made.
