• Gwinnett police investigate murder, attempted suicide

    GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - A man has been charged in a failed suspected murder-suicide in Gwinnet County.

    Officers were called to 825 Club Place Wednesday night and discovered 32-year-old Marisol Rodriguez dead of an apparent stab wound. Vicente Rivadeneira-Torres, 36, was found nearby collapsed with a knife protruding from his chest. He was transported to a local hospital.
     
    Investigators said the couple had a domestic dispute just prior to the stabbing.  Officer said they beleive Rivadeneira-Torres stabbed Rodriguez before turning the knife on himself. 
     
    The couple’s 10-year-old daughter fled the residence to seek help and was not injured. 
     
    Rivadeneira remains hospitalized in serious condition. 
     
    Authorities charged Rivadeneira-Torres with felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of third degree cruelty to children. He will remain under guard while hospitalized. 
     
    The couple’s daughter was released to the custody of relatives.
