14-year-old facing charges in grandmother's death

ATLANTA, Ga. — Police say a 76-year-old woman was killed by her grandson in southwest Atlanta.

The Fulton County medical examiner has identified the woman as Mary Price. Her grandson's name has not been released.  Her body was found around 9 a.m. Friday inside a home on Fairburn Road.

The medical examiner confirmed Saturday she died of "multiple sharp force injuries of the head, torso and upper extremities" consistent with stabbing.

Police have charged Price's 14-year-old grandson, a Therrell High School student, in her death.

Detectives said Price is the mother of an Atlanta Police officer. The officer is not related to the teen, authorities said.

School resource officers were some of the first people to speak with the 14-year-old. They said he showed up to school with bloodied clothes. He made statements to people at school. The information prompted police to go to Price's home where they found her dead.

Neighbor Diana Juhan said she's devastated by the whole situation.

"It's very sad. You know someone who lives next door and find out that happened to them," she said.
