Police: Illegal nightclub had booze, gambling, strippers

ATLANTA — Atlanta police raided a business overnight that they say is operating an illegal nightclub.

Investigators told Channel 2's Darryn Moore they found strippers, gambling and liquor at the business called Club Brazil.

Police spent months investigating the place after receiving a tip and weeks of undercover work before raiding the business.

Officers seized gaming machines, cases of beer and coolers full of liquor.

"We got stripper poles for adult dancing and we also have several bars located throughout the establishment," Atlanta police Capt. Scott Kreher said.

Club Brazil is located in a two-story warehouse on Welcome All Road in southwest Atlanta. Police said it has no business license or license to sell alcohol, but the club owner's attorney told Moore off camera it operates as a private club.

"It was open to anybody who had enough money to pay the cover charge," Kreher said.

The owner is facing several charges, including operating a business without a license and several code violations.
