Police: Homeowner shoots, kills robbery suspect

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A shootout in a DeKalb County neighborhood left a robbery suspect dead overnight.
 
Police said a homeowner was also shot, but is expected to survive. Investigators believe it may be a case of self-defense.
 
Homicide investigators gathered evidence and took photos of the double shooting on Hairston Crossing Way.
 
Police said the shootout was between the homeowner and a robbery suspect.
 
The confrontation turned deadly for the suspect, the homeowner was also shot and rushed to the hospital.
 
Investigators said they found three handguns and a clip laying on the street.
 
"What we know is it occurred out in the driveway of what we believe is going to be the victim's residence. We don't know exactly what transpired," said DeKalb County Police Lt. Antonio Catlin.
 
Police said there was someone inside the house that heard the gunshots, but told investigators she didn't see what happened.
 
So far,  police have not identified the two men involved, only to say both are in their 20s.
 
Police said they don't know what the suspect was after. The investigation is ongoing.
