• Police: Con artists prayed with victims before theft

HIRAM, Ga. - Police in Hiram  say women captured on camera walking into a Walmart were con artists using prayer to prey on holiday shoppers.
In the surveillance video, one of them strikes up a conversation with a shopper in the cosmetic section. After a few minutes she invites the victim to pray over her problems.
Police said that's when the second woman moves in and swipes cash and credit cards from the victim's purse.
“I work hard for all I get and when people think they can just take it. It’s unbelievable,” said shopper Mercedes Shropshire.
Investigators say the two women are linked to distraction thefts in Paulding, Cobb and Douglas counties.
