Teens charged in fatal shooting of Clayton County father

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Two teenagers are facing murder charges in connection with the shooting death of a 24-year-old father at a Clayton County apartment complex on Monday night.

Police say witness interviews and their investigation led them to arrest the two boys, a 15-year-old from Atlanta and a 16-year-old from College Park. Police charged both with murder and aggravated assault.

Jeremy Milbry, 24, was shot in the back while walking with his family at the Stone Brook Apartments on Norman Drive.

Milbry’s brother spoke to Channel 2’s Amy Napier Viteri about the terrifying moment they were approached by a group, where one man pulled out a gun.

“He started shooting; I just fell and hit the ground even though I wasn't shot. That's when he started shooting at my brothers," said Malik Johnson.

Johnson said he ran after them and managed to get one of the guys and hold him until police got there. Officials have not released any information on that person.

Authorities are still on the lookout for a stolen gray Acura RDX, a sport utility vehicle, with Georgia tag BYL 2877, which may have been used as a getaway car during Monday’s incident.

Anyone with information on the individual or any other details about the incident is asked to call 404-577-TIPS or Clayton County Police at 770-477-3648.
