Plane lands safely after bird strike

ATLANTA — A 757 airplane landed safely at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport this afternoon after a bird strike.

Delta said flight 2206 destined for Norfolk, Va. returned to the airport after it encountered birds shortly after taking off in Atlanta. Delta said the birds came in contact with the nose of the plane, but the aircraft was not damaged.

The flight landed safely and the 173 passengers will be placed on other flights.
