Dawson County standoff ends with homicide suspects in custody

DAWSON COUNTY, Ga. — Dawson County investigators had a home surrounded in the area of Harmony Church Road Tuesday night after police said two homicide suspects were holed up there.

Investigators said the suspects were involved in a homicide in Cherokee County over the weekend.

Police told Channel 2's Kerry Kavanaugh they arrested Crystal Taylor earlier in the evening, but John Taylor had remained in the home with a small-caliber handgun.

Investigators said that shortly after 7 p.m., SWAT agents moved into the house and shocked John Taylor with a Taser.

Investigators said John Taylor had shown a gun to officers; they said they observed him injecting himself with methamphetamine.

Police told Kavanaugh that Crystal and John Taylor are not married and officers are not sure about their relationship.

John Taylor has been taken to the Cherokee CountyJail, where he will be charged with murder.

Investigators said they will be questioning the Taylors about a third person they are looking for in the Cherokee County homicide.

Officers said they were able to track the Taylors to the home in Dawson County by pinging their cellphone.

Officers from Cherokee and Forsyth counties also responded to the home for backup. Police are not sure what Crystal and John Taylor's relationship to the home is.
