EAST POINT, Ga. - Police arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the alleged kidnappings and rapes of at least two women in East Point.
Terry Young was booked on older charges Friday, police said. Theys aid kidnapping and rape charges are expected to be added soon.
Police say two women were attacked earlier this week and forced to drive to an ATM and withdraw money.
“They forced them to go to ATM retrieve money. Once the money retrieved, they forced them back to residence where he commits a sexual assault on them," said Capt. Cliff Chandler, of the East Point Police Department.
Only Channel 2's Liz Artz was there when police took Young into custody.
According to police, Young was found by officers on Friday hiding in a water heater closet in an apartment near where the crimes happened.
Police say the same attacker could be connected to an attack on another woman last week.
That woman was able to positively identify Young in a line up shortly after his arrest.
Police say the woman was taking a selfie when she saw an armed man approaching from behind her.
The man forced his way into the car and asked from the back seat how much money the woman had. When she said she didn’t know, he struck her with the pistol.
Police say the armed man kissed the victim and then started groping her.
According to police, the armed man forced her to take him to a Wells Fargo bank on Camp Creek Parkway.
As she pulled up to the bank, the woman jumped out of her moving car and ran to a nearby Walgreens for help.
The man drove away. Shortly afterward, an officer found the car ditched at an apartment complex less than a mile from the woman’s home.
Young was also wanted on a theft charge from July after his boss at Waffle house accused him of stealing all the money out of the register during a shift.
