Pedestrian killed on I-285 in DeKalb

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police said a man was fatally hit early Saturday on Interstate 285 southbound, just south of Covington Highway.

The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was struck by at least two vehicles, police spokesman DeKalb police Lt. C.T. Barkett told Channel 2 Action News. The drivers of two of the vehicles stopped, Barkett said.

Police received a call around 3:45 a.m. about the accident, which stopped all southbound traffic for about two hours, Barkett said. The accident scene was cleared around 6:30 a.m.

Police did not say why the man might have been on the interstate at that time of the morning.
