Partial building collapse injures 2 workers

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Two workers were injured Thursday when an under construction building collapsed in Sandy Springs.

According to Sandy Springs police, the two workers were on top of the structure when it collapsed on Crestline Parkway. The workers fell approximately 15 to 20 feet.

Sandy Springs fire officials described the workers' injuries as minor to moderate. They were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik said the said the structure is a hotel under construction.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Sandy Springs Building Authority were called to the scene to investigate.

City officials are urging drivers to avoid the area if possible.
