2 arrested, accused of hurting Peachtree City officer

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. — Two people are accused of attacking and hurting a police officer in a Fayette County neighborhood.

Channel 2's Rikki Klaus spoke to a neighbor on Birkill Sunday after the incident overnight Saturday.

Neighbors told her it has made them nervous and scared.

Klaus saw the house on Birkhill where a domestic dispute turned into a fight involving gunfire.

Around 4:15 a.m. Sunday, Peachtree City police say 19-year-old Samuel Taylor and 22-year-old Yasmeen Griffin attacked the officer who was called to Griffin’s house on Birkhill.

Police said the boyfriend and girlfriend were somehow impaired.

Officers said one of them pulled the trigger of the officer’s gun as it was in the holster and a bullet lightly grazed a resident.

The officer is in good condition, but went to the hospital for minor injuries and chest pain. Klaus learned just before 7:30 a.m. that the officer had been released from the hospital.

The suspects are facing felony obstruction, battery and aggravated assault charges.

Just before 7:30 a.m., Klaus learned two people were in custody and facing charges.

Peachtree City police said the officer has been released from the hospital.
