Police search for bank robber near UNG campus

OAKWOOD, Ga. — Several schools were placed on lockdown Wednesday morning as police searched for a bank robber in Hall County.

The University of North Georgia told students that Oakwood police were searching for the bank robber near the Audubon apartments on Lanier Mill Circle Road. They were asked to avoid the area.

The Sun Trust across from the university was robbed earlier on Wednesday.

Oakwood Elementary School, Johnson High School and the Academies of Discovery were all placed on lockdown.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office lifted the lockdown at the schools around 10:45 a.m., but was still a police presence at the university at noon.
