10-year-old metro Atlanta girl gets very special room makeover

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — A local non-profit gave a metro Atlanta 10-year-old a much needed bedroom makeover.

On Friday, Caitlyn Davis, of Alpharetta, got her first glimpse of her new during the big reveal. Caitlyn has had seizures since she was four months old and is unable to walk. That's where Roswell nonprofit Sunshine on a Ranney Day stepped up to help.

"It's definitely going to make Caitlyn's journey easier," mom Jennifer Davis said.

The room makeover included a new, renovated bathroom. Now, Caitlyn's parents will no longer have to lift her from her wheelchair to move her to the shower.

"It'll be safer for all," her father, John Davis said. "You know, there's no risk of dropping or falling."

American Signature Furniture donated some of the new furniture, which was chosen especially with Caitlyn in mind.

"One of the difficult parts about having special needs children, a lot of times, is that there's a lot of physicality involved with getting in the bath and getting them out, in and out of bed," Joe Lane with American Signature Furniture said.

Sunshine on a Ranney Day worked with the advanced interior design studio class at Chattahoochee Tech.

One thing Davis said Caitlyn will definitely love? The large, beautiful butterflies lights that cover the ceiling.

Jennifer Davis said she's grateful for the community's support.

"It's so amazing to have an organization that's willing, you know, to come in from A to Z and take care of everything," she said. "This is just another example of how people in our community have come together to help those of us who, it's not always the easiest road."

Jennifer Davis said the makeover means more to her than she can ever express.
