NEWTON COUNTY, Ga — A bomb threat temporarily evacuated Emory University’s campus in Oxford on Sunday, according to Emory police.
The university tweeted at 11:29 a.m. that everyone in Jolley Residential Center buildings was evacuated as a precautionary measure.

UPDATE: All clear issued at Oxford. No device was found. Students can return to the Jolley Residential Center buildings.

The evacuation only lasted about 40 minutes before university police announced there was no bomb device found.

“Emory University evacuated the Jolley Residential Center (JRC) on the Oxford College campus at 10:05 a.m., Sunday after learning of a bomb threat. Emory Police and other law enforcement officials conducted a thorough search and determined there was no threat to the community. Emory issued an all clear at 12:04 p.m., and students were allowed to return to the residence halls,” the university said in a statement to Channel 2.
