College Park police officer killed in motorcycle crash

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A College Park police officer was killed in a motorcycle crash Monday.

Chief Keith Meadows says Sgt. David Hough, 31, was driving on I-20 in Covington when he lost control and hit a median around 5:30 p.m. He later died at the hospital.

Meadows says Hough was a shining star in the department.

Several officers gathered at Piedmont Newton Hospital Monday night after hearing the news.

"We're sad because Sgt. Hough was just recently promoted to the rank of sergeant and he was an up-and-coming officer in our ranks," Meadows said. "We're going to make it through it. We're going to band together and we're going to continue to serve the people of College Park."
