2 kids among 3 killed in crash involving school bus

NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — Two children and one adult died in a head-on crash between a school bus and another vehicle at Highway 162 and Spring Valley Way in Newton County.

The Newton County School District says the crash happened around 4 p.m. Monday, and there were no students on board at the time. The bus driver was not injured.

Georgia State Patrol troopers say a BMW that was driving northbound crossed the center line and hit the bus.

"It's something that's going to stay in my mind for a long time," said Timothy Price, who lives across the road. "It was mom, dad, and the three kids. And one was an infant, which they said was dead on scene."

Troopers say none of the people inside the BMW were wearing seat belts. No drug or alcohol use is suspected, according to troopers.

Price says he and his family are heartbroken after seeing a family ripped apart in front of their eyes.

"I'm sorry. It just hurts. It could have easily been my family, you know? The girl and the mother were just saying, 'Help me,'" he said. "To everyone who hears this, there has to be a lesson to buckle your babies up."
