Mother arrested after 3-year-old shoots self

ATLANTA — Atlanta police say they have charged a mother Friday after her child shot himself in the face Thursday night.
 
Angel Douglas, 22, was charged with cruelty to children and reckless conduct.
 
Police said her 3-year-old son found a handgun and shot himself at their home on Middleton Road. He was transported to the hospital and was listed in stable condition.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the case.
 
Douglas is currently at the Fulton County Jail.
