Autopsy: Mom accused of killing her 2 kids, poisoned them

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A woman, who police said has Cobb County connections, has been arrested and charged in the murder of her two children.

The children's mother, Marilyn Edge, 42, of Scottsdale, Ariz., was arrested Saturday and booked on suspicion of murder in the deaths, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said Saturday.

Police said Edge's kids, ages 10 and 13, were found at a hotel room in Santa Ana, Calif. near Disneyland.

"We went to the room. Our officers entered the room and located the two deceased kids," said Bertangna.

Police said it's unclear why the mother and kids were in Santa Ana. Relatives said Edge had recently lost custody of the children.  Police believe the children had been living with their father in Cobb County.

Autopsy results released on Monday, show that the children were poisoned.

Edge has been in jail on suicide watch since police said she tried to kill herself Saturday, Police said. It was comments Edge made to paramedics, police say, that led them to the hotel room in California.

Meanwhile, guests staying at the southern California hotel, said they were shocked to learn about the deaths.

"My goodness, if there's two children involved that's just horrendous to say the least," said Mike Ramey. "As a parent, it's just a heartbreaker."

Further information, including the names of the children, the motive and the cause of death, has not been released.

Edge is expected in court Tuesday for an arraignment hearing.
