ATLANTA — Police shut down Memorial Drive overnight as they mapped out a deadly hit-and-run crash scene from the weekend.
William Crumbley and his wife, Danya Crumbley, were walking home from a gas station when an out-of-control car hit them and left the scene Saturday night, police said. The couple was killed instantly.
Investigators finished their work around 5 a.m. Thursday. They took measurements of the road, focusing on the tree where the hit-and-run driver crashed the car.
Bryan Butler, 20, was arrested a short time after the crash and charged with reckless homicide, reckless driving and hit-and-run.
Police said they believe alcohol and drugs may have played a role in the crash
Investigators said the information gathered Thursday morning will be crucial in their case against Butler.
