Marietta mother, son killed in Florida crash

Friends are remembering a Marietta mother and son killed in a wreck just days after Christmas.
The Myers family was heading home to East Cobb Saturday night when their Ford Bronco lost control on a stretch of Interstate 10 near Jacksonville, hit a tree and burst into flames.
Investigators say all four people in the car, who were not wearing seatbelts, were thrown from the SUV.
Three of the four were killed. Rob Myers, the father, was rushed to a trauma center in critical condition.
Those who knew the Myers family are still in shock.
“He was probably one of the nicest friends I had and always put a smile on everyone's face,” said Jason Hancock, whose 15-year-old friend Michael Myers died in the crash. "I'm going to miss him at the bus stop, on the bus, seeing him every day at lunch.
Myers' mother Pamela and his uncle were also killed in the crash.
Gifty Arthur, who lives next door to the Myers, described them as terrific neighbors. She carpooled Michael and her son to football practice at nearby Pope High School where they played on the freshman team and said Michael would always gather the neighbors for a game of hoops.
“When we get home the last thing he'd say was thank you. He always said thank you and the first thing he said when he saw you is to say hello and to greet you. (He was) a very respectful boy," she said.
“It’s just crazy how he can be here one second and gone the next,” Hancock said.
Funeral arrangements are still being worked out.
