Man sought in shooting of Sandy Springs mother

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Police have released a photo of the man they believe shot a Sandy Springs mother with her child nearby.

Shawn Crew, 38, was shot Sunday afternoon at the Chastain Apartment Homes on Roswell Road. She was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she underwent surgery. She is listed in serious condition.

Sandy Spring police detectives believe Matthew Terry, 42, is the father of Crew's 4-year-old child and the person responsible for the shooting.

"We know the child was in the area. We don't know if the child witnessed the shooting. It occurred outside the apartment in the stairway area," Capt. Steve Rose of the Sandy Springs Police Department said.

Investigators believe an argument between Terry and Crew got out of hand, leading to the shooting.

"As far as him being at large, being on any type of rampage or anything of the sort…I think what we are dealing with is a person who is definitely trying to get away and hide right now," Rose said.

Police said Terry was last seen in the victim's Mercedes C-280 with New York license plate No. FLX 3586. He may also be in a black Cadillac Escalade with New York license plate No. ETJ 6098.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Terry on charges of aggravated assault, burglary and posession of a firarm during the commission of a felony.
