5 arrested, 2 sought on murder charges after shooting at Villa Rica motel

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities have charged seven people with murder in a deadly motel shooting in Carroll County.

Officers taped off the Fairbridge Inn on Highway 61 in Villa Rica Tuesday night.

Police said someone inside room 205 shot at Brian Cook, 28, and another man. Cook died.

A construction worker said he returned to his room after work to find the place surrounded.

He told Channel 2 Action News he is thankful he came back at the time he did

"It's scary because if we would have gotten here earlier, we probably would have got hurt too," Ruben Lara said. "But we thank God we're safe."

Police are looking for two suspects: Briahious McPherson, 19, from Villa Rica and Ricardo Joiner, 19, from Villa Rica.

Warrants have been issued for both suspects, charging them with murder and two counts of aggravated assault.

Anyone with information on either suspect can call Villa Rica police or call 911.
