• Man shot in the leg by police officer


    CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. - Police in Carroll County are investigating an officer-involved shooting.

    The Carroll County Sheriff's Office said a Whitesburg police officer was trying to take a young person into custody on a juvenile court warrant around 11 a.m on Aycock Street.

    The Sheriff's Office said the juvenile's father shot at the officer and the officer shot the man in the leg.

    The man was airlifted to a nearby hospital. The officer was not hurt.

    The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is assisting Whitesburg and Carroll County with the investigation.
