ATLANTA - Police are searching for the killer who shot a man waiting at the bus stop with his 3-year-old daughter outside a church.
Atlanta police told Channel 2 Action News someone got out of a car on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway and shot Dantavious Chatman several times with a handgun.
Witnesses said the gunman then got back in the car and drove off.
Chatman's mother and family say they are engulfed in grief. They say his 3-year-old daughter, Dakayla, who was with him on this bench at a bus stop, is having tough time after seeing her father get shot.
"What kind of animal would do this in front of a 3-year-old baby? Please tell me. I want to know why. Why did this young man kill my son in front of a 3-year-old? In front of his 3-year-old,” said Chatman’s mother Veronica Tuggle.
Chatman's family says he never catches the bus but tried to catch it on this night after no one would give him a ride to take his daughter back to her mother.
Dakayla was not hurt.
Police are still searching for the gunman.
