Man drowns in Acworth lake

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police say a man drowned on Sunday afternoon at  Lake Acworth in Cobb County.

At about 1:40 p.m., Acworth police arrived at South Shore Park on Ragsdale Road, after receiving a report about a possible drowning.

When officers arrived, witnesses told them the 55-year-old victim had been using a paddle board in the lake before he was seen going under.

"The Cobb County Fire Department responded to the scene as well and was able to locate and recover the body approximately one half hour after the victim was seen going under," Acworth Police Chief G. Wayne Dennard said.

The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office will render a cause of death for the man, whose identity has not yet been released.
