• Man claims self-defense in deadly bar fight

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - A man is claiming self-defense after Clayton County police said he shot and killed a former police officer.

Police said Jessie Murray Jr. got into an argument with Nathan Adams inside a bar on Old Dixie Road on Sunday.

Murray grabbed his gun.  He told police he was defending himself after he was attacked.  Police said he admitted shooting Adams.

Adams' friends said he was harmless.

"I was very upset because I knew him for what he did for everybody, nothing outside. He was always a good person," said Roy Jordan.

Murray said he thought his wife, who was inside the bar, was in danger.

    He is charged with murder.
