• Man arrested in Chamblee elderly sexual assault

    CHAMBLEE, Ga. - Chamblee police has charged a man with rape after an elderly woman was sexually assaulted in her home in April.
     
    DNA tests linked 32-year-old Allen Lee Garner with the crime.
     
    Police said the 79-year-old woman was attacked him her bedroom on April 26. Investigators were able to identify the suspect as Garner, who had recently been released from prison.
     
    On May 2, Garner was arrested on a related burglary charge. While in police custody, investigators submitted DNA evidence gathered at the crime scene to the GBI Crime Lab. On Thursday, the test results matched Garner to the crime.
     
    Garner was charged with rape, burglary and theft.
