ATLANTA — Severe storms wreaked havoc across Georgia late Sunday night and through Monday morning.
Severe Weather Team 2 tracked the storms every step of the way as they produced several tornadoes, damaging winds, heavy rain and hail.

One man was killed in Bartow County when a tree fell on his home. The National Weather Service confirmed that tornado was an EF-1 storm, with winds up to 90 mph.
At least 8 people were killed in the storms, officials confirm. Seven people were killed in Murray County after several mobile homes were flattened.
Authorities confirmed tornadoes were also reported in Thomaston, South Fulton, Putnam and Chattooga counties. Crews are still assessing if others touched down.

Channel 2′s Tom Regan is in Upson County where the powerful storms picked up a house and dropped it in the middle of the road.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Eboni Deon says the storms have moved out, but some areas in north Georgia saw up to 4 inches of rain. Whitfield County saw 7 inches of rain.
5:30 a.m.
A huge tree fell next to a house in southeast Atlanta. Luckily, it missed the house and no one was injured.
4:55 a.m.
Channel 2′s Lauren Davis learned that a 34-year-old man was killed when a large tree crashed onto house on Eagles Drive in Cartersville in Bartow County. The fire chief said the man was asleep at the time of the crash. Two others inside the house were injured.

At least 5 people were killed, and multiple people were injured in Murray County, Georgia from overnight storms. Murray County is about 90 miles northwest of Atlanta.

Crews are working to clear a tree that fell onto I-285 S near College Park.

Dawson County is opening an emergency shelter tonight at Rock Creek Park at 8 p.m. Anyone seeking refuge will be required to wear a mask, stay 6 feet apart and will be screened for coronavirus symptoms.
