Lawyer claims another victory for Victor Hill

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A petition to appeal dropped charges against Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill has failed, according to Hill's attorney.

Attorney Drew Findling said the Georgia Court of Appeals ruled in Hill's favor, dismissing the appeal on procedural grounds. That would mean the appeals court let stand Clayton Superior Court Judge Al Collier's ruling to dismiss five counts of Hill's racketeering indictment.

The dismissed counts include two significant RICO counts, but Findling said 32 counts remain. Hill maintains he is innocent of all of them.
