Large tree falls near Emory graduation ceremonies

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A fallen tree caused a traffic impediment to people attending Emory University's graduation ceremonies Monday morning.

Clifton Road was shut down temporarily as crews worked to clear a large tree in front of the campus president's house. Students said they were having difficulties getting to and from the ceremonies because of the activity.

"It's unfortunate, but there's nothing you can do. Show must go on," a student getting her diploma told Channel 2's Tom Jones.

The tree fell on utility lines, knocking out power to the area. Authorities also said a car received minor damage from the tree.
