Huge stash of steroids, other drugs seized during raid at 42-acre property

HALL COUNTY, Ga. — When federal agents descended on a 42-acre property in Gainesville on Thursday, investigators not only found bags of drugs and dozens of firearms, they also discovered a bunker under the garage.

Channel 2's Mark Winne was the first reporter to go inside.

On Friday, a spokesman for the Drug Enforcement Administration confirmed that, although no one is in custody, agents are preparing to make multiple arrests.

Investigators also shared new details about what they seized from the Hall County home. They discovered 6,081 dosage units of steroids, 800 grams of alprazolam powder and pills, 50 pounds of marijuana and 71 firearms, silencers and possible automatic weapons.

"This is a polydrug organization, which means they deal in multiple kinds of drugs, multistate, throughout the United States," said Chad Cook, of the DEA.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Roswell Police Department and the Hall County Sheriff's Office are all assisting the DEA in the investigation, which unfolded just around the corner from the county high school.

It happened in a quiet neighborhood where people only see scenes like this in movies.

"That's too close to home. We really think it's kind of scary," concerned neighbor Holli Conley said. "It makes me feel like I don't even want to go outside."

According to property records, the home is owned by a 27-year-old man who has a registered business in Gainesville and in Decatur.

Channel 2's Michael Seiden asked police if the property owner is considered a suspect, but they told him they could not comment on the ongoing investigation.
