GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Jurors heard emotional testimony Thursday in a home invasion and murder trial.
Devon Jenkins, Pierre Scott and James Stokes are on trial for an August 2014 home invasion where a man was killed, and a woman and child were shot.
The alleged mastermind behind the crime, Brian Brewer, has already been convicted and is in prison.
Police said the crew of robbers went to a home on Summercrest Lane in Duluth looking for drugs and money but may have had the wrong house.
The now 9-year-old girl wounded in the home invasion described the day gunmen burst into her home.
“They kept saying later that day, ‘We are going to kill you,’ then they kept shooting,” she said.
The child was shot in the arm, and her mother, Jamie Smith, was shot in the leg.
Smith wept on the stand, describing the day her boyfriend, Adam Schrier, was killed.
One key issue for the jury is whether Smith and her daughter can reliably identify the suspects.
Defense lawyers said Smith has changed her description of her attackers and may be misidentifying the alleged shooter, Jenkins.
Defense lawyers asked for a mistrial for the second time in two days.
The judge rejected the request, and testimony will continue.
