• Investigators dig up old well in search for Gwinnett teen missing more than six years

DACULA, Ga. - Gwinnett County sheriffs deputies spent Thursday digging up an old well, following up on a tip about the disappearance of a Gwinnett teen more than six years ago.

Justin Gaines was last seen leaving Wild Bills nightclub in Duluth in November 2007.

Investigators said they were following up on a tip that brought them to an old well off of Highway 316 outside of Dacula.

Channel 2’s Tony Thomas spoke to investigators at the scene, who said so far they have not found anything.

Several searches and a $50,000 reward have failed to turn up any sign of Gaines.

His disappearance had gained national attention.

The Gainesville College student came home the night he disappeared and told his mother he was going out with friends. He was dropped off at Wild Bill's. Later that night, he called a friend to pick him up, but his friend told him that he could not.

Police have said the investigation has slowed due to lack of cooperation from some of Gaines' close friends.
