Temperatures will drop into teens overnight Friday through Christmas Day on Sunday with daytime temperatures in the 20s.

Veteran tow truck operator Ronnie Mayer says people should considering “winterizing” their cars to avoid getting stranded on the road.

“It hasn’t been this cold in five years, so a lot of people aren’t used to it. If your battery is over two and half years old, go up to your dealer or the garage and replace your battery. If a battery has a dead cell, it’s dead,” said Mayer.

He also advised drivers to check engine fluids and replace old fuel filters.

“The fuel filters that haven’t been changed, the moisture in it turns to ice and that freezes up and causes no fuel or a car fire.” said Mayer.

Georgia AAA says gas prices continue to fall going into the Christmas holiday.
