UPDATE: Major road reopened after shutdown

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — UPDATE: Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors have opened the Camp Creek Parkway DDI Bridge at I-285 ahead of schedule following a complete shutdown this weekend.

Heads up, drivers! You can expect major delays this weekend at Interstate 285 and Camp Creek Parkway in South Fulton County.

This will impact thousands of people who use the busy road to travel to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

According to the city of East Point, the Georgia Department of Transportation will “install overnight lane closures and pace traffic on I-285.”

It’s all because of ongoing construction for the Diverging Diamond Interchange Project at I-285 and State Route 6-Camp Creek Parkkway in Fulton County.

You can expect to experience detours Friday, Feb. 7, beginning at 9 p.m., until Monday, Feb. 10 at 5 a.m.
