Hartsfield-Jackson airport GM retiring

ATLANTA — The general manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International is retiring.

Louis Miller told Channel 2's Tom Jones he announced his decision to step down to employees on Monday afternoon.

"I just want to do a change of my life's direction, 37 years of doing this," Miller said.

Miller spent three years leading the world's busiest airport and is proud of his accomplishments.

"Everything we've done. Getting the international terminal finished, keeping the airport one of the most efficient, continuing to win awards for efficiency," Miller said.

Miller told Jones he has more ideas, like additional cellphone waiting lots. He has a team in place and a master plan that will lead the airport into the future.

"We're going to need additional gates in the next 20 years," Miller said.

He also told Jones he had a great relationship with Mayor Kasim Reed and the City Council.

"I've never had the City Council turn me down on anything I've asked for," he said. "I'm very pleased with what we've accomplished."
