HALL COUNTY, Ga. — Hall County police say a man is dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after a SWAT standoff Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies said they were trying to serve a warrant to a man accused of battering a woman who lived in his home in a domestic violence incident.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office said Leonardo Jimenez, 55, waved a handgun at deputies and ran behind a home on Stephens Rd. Deputies heard gunfire and found Jimenez dead of a gunshot wound to the head around 5 p.m.
Officials said the victim filed a domestic violence report against Jimenez on Tuesday morning. The victim had visible injuries, deputies said.
News Chopper 2 was over the scene Tuesday afternoon, where deputies set a perimeter up around the residence.
Channel 2's Jason Durden saw officers using a battering ram and armored truck to search a building on the property.
