Channel 2's Liz Artz learned the victim, identified as 47-year-old Orlando Cepeda Hall, is believed to be the operator of the street sweeper.

Police said crews found Hall pinned between the hydraulic arm and the hopper of the vehicle. He was confirmed dead at the scene.

The vehicle was still running when it was found by a construction worker.

Investigators believe Hall was attempting to identify or correct a mechanical issue at the time of the incident.

NewsChopper2 over the scene in Channel 2 Action News This Morning showed several police cruisers and emergency crews in the parking lot of the gas station.

Artz said that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified.

Regular QT customer Lee Drummond was speechless when he realized what happened.

“I don't even know what to say about something like that,” Drummond said. "That's crazy, God that's insane I don't know. I hate that I don't know if he got family or whatever the case may be."

OSHA says it could take months to complete the investigation.
