Police seize weapons, meth and other drugs in major raid at Gwinnett home

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — At least one person has been arrested and six others were detained Tuesday morning following a major raid in Gwinnett County.

Channel 2's Kristen Holloway was at the scene just before 7 a.m. as Gwinnett Metro Task Force agents searched the home on Johnson Street in Lawrenceville.

“Inside the location, we found an AK-47 assault rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun and a handgun, as well as meth and marijuana,” Sgt. Chris Ralston, with the Lawrenceville Police Department, said.

Holloway watched as officers went in and out of the house during the raid. They also checked the trunks of cars parked in the driveway.

Officers said they got an anonymous tip and have been investigating activity inside the home for weeks.

“I was very concerned they only took one person to jail, we’ve been saying for a long time we knew there was illegal activity going on over there, and I was very surprised to see they took the other five out of handcuffs,” a neighbor said, asking not to be identified.

The neighbor told Holloway that he called police after someone renting the home threatened him.

“Over the last two years since this family has moved in, they had a pit bull that’s gotten out and terrified the neighborhood, they have threatened me for being in my own yard, they have several code enforcement violations,” the neighbor said.

Lawrenceville police are still investigating to determine what charges the woman who was arrested will face.
