Armed robbers followed victims to home before attack, police say

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Surveillance video shows an armed robber inside the victims' own home.

Gwinnett County police believe the victims were followed to their home off of Hamilton Mill Parkway.

"I can't imagine someone sticking a gun to my head to rob me, in my home," a neighbor told Channel 2's Matt Johnson.

Police said while one robber was at the door to get a purse, another armed man shoved the woman's husband to the floor and robbed him.

"We heard a gentleman down the street yelling for help," the neighbor said. She was one of the people who called 911.

The armed robbery happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday inside the Millside Manor subdivision in Dacula.

Police believe the robbers may have followed the victims from their Chinese restaurant in Lawrenceville.

Another neighbor's security camera captured footage of a possible getaway vehicle that has been turned over to Gwinnett County police.

One neighbor posted a warning outside the neighborhood off Hamilton Mill Parkway while police look for suspects.

"There are lots of families in the neighborhood and I'm concerned for children and those who maybe can't defend themselves," Lisa King said.

Other similar robberies involving Asian restaurants is why the Gwinnett Police Department is meeting with business owners Thursday to share advice.

"When you're going home, take different routes, don't just know one way home," said Wilbert Rundles, with the Gwinnett County Police Department.

For neighbors near the robbery, they've heard of break-ins but nothing like armed intruders.

"That kind of escalates it to another level," the neighbor said.

The possible getaway car could be an Infiniti SUV with customized black wheels.

The seminar for business owners is tomorrow from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Central Police precinct in Duluth.
